Izvoare, Romania
Légáramlat took part as the official Hungarian partner in the Wired for Wonder youth exchange, sending a dedicated team of eight enthusiastic participants — seven young people and one group leader — to join this dynamic outdoor-focused activity in Izvoare, Romania.
The exchange brought together 40 young people aged 16–21 from Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Czechia, and Serbia to explore how accessible outdoor sports—especially via ferrata—can support a healthier lifestyle, reduce stress, and encourage young people to reconnect with nature. Many youths are unaware that exciting and affordable activities are available in their own regions, and this project aimed to change that.
The goal of Wired for Wonder was to raise awareness about alternative outdoor sports, promote physical and mental wellbeing, and empower young people to become ambassadors for active, healthy living. By the end of the mobility, participants had:
Discovered via ferrata as a safe, exciting, and beginner-friendly outdoor experience.
Built personal resilience and leadership through challenges requiring teamwork, trust, and risk management.
Strengthened intercultural understanding through non-formal learning, reflection groups, and cultural evenings.
Enhanced partner organisations’ capacities to design meaningful, sport-based youth activities that use nature as a learning environment.
The exchange gathered young people from diverse backgrounds who were motivated to challenge themselves, explore outdoor activities, and experience cross-cultural learning. Légáramlat’s group represented Hungary with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a strong teamwork spirit.
All program elements were built on non-formal, participatory methods, ensuring that learning happened through experience, collaboration, and real involvement.
Group-Building Phase
Participants bonded through icebreakers and cooperative challenges, established their shared Code of Conduct, and formed working committees to take responsibility for daily tasks and group dynamics. This foundation created a supportive and inclusive atmosphere for the entire week.
Project-Topic Workshops
The core of the exchange focused on learning about and trying via ferrata. Participants:
Explored equipment, safety techniques, and responsible behaviours.
Discussed risks and personal limits.
Practiced teamwork and mutual support.
Experienced the via ferrata route firsthand under professional supervision.
The activity challenged participants physically and mentally, boosting confidence and fostering a strong sense of achievement.
DEOR & Evaluation
In the final stage of the exchange, participants created dissemination plans and designed follow-up activities to promote via ferrata and healthy living in their home communities. The week concluded with the completion of Youthpass certificates, a final evaluation session, and a warm farewell.
For Légáramlat’s delegation, Wired for Wonder was an opportunity to explore the power of nature-based learning, discover a new sport, and connect with peers from across Europe. The young participants returned home with:
Greater physical confidence and resilience
Knowledge about safe outdoor sports
Improved teamwork and communication skills
A renewed motivation to promote active, healthy lifestyles
