Museum Visit - Chinese Xieyi Hungarian

On February 14th, we had the pleasure of visiting the Hungarian National Museum with a group of 11 enthusiastic young participants to explore the fascinating Chinese Xieyi exhibition. The event provided a wonderful opportunity not only to discover new aspects of Chinese culture and art but also to connect with one another in a vibrant social setting.
The exhibition, on loan from the National Life Museum of China, features a remarkable collection of 58 artworks, including four sculptures, created by 58 different artists. These works represent a blend of modern and contemporary Chinese art, reflecting both traditional Chinese painting techniques and the growing influence of Western artistic styles, particularly those introduced to China in the 1970s and 1980s.
The exhibit centers on the core philosophical elements of Chinese art: meaning, form, and interest. These themes are embodied in the Xieyi style, or freehand brushwork, which uses delicate brushstrokes, abstract forms, and mythical sculptures to bridge Eastern traditions with Western influences. Altogether, the exhibition offers visitors an enriching cultural experience that is both thought-provoking and visually captivating.
It was truly quite an experience—see you at the next one!
