Future-Ready Youth was a 7-day Erasmus+ Youth Exchange that brought together young people from Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, and Serbia to explore sustainability and the competences needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world. As part of the project, Légáramlat Nonprofit Kft. sent 7 young participants and 1 group leader to represent Hungary and actively contribute to the international learning experience.
Through interactive workshops, outdoor learning activities, creative challenges, and intercultural exchanges, participants explored how the 8 Key Competences for Lifelong Learning can be developed through everyday actions and real-life experiences. By connecting sustainability with personal growth, teamwork, communication, creativity, and active citizenship, young people gained a deeper understanding of their role in creating positive change.
The project provided a dynamic and supportive environment where participants developed practical skills, increased their awareness of future challenges, strengthened their intercultural competences, and built meaningful international connections. They returned home inspired and equipped to implement sustainable ideas and initiatives within their local communities.
The project's goal was simple yet powerful:
To help young people become future-ready citizens by understanding the skills they need for lifelong learning and discovering how sustainable actions can create positive change in their communities.
Objectives:
1. Strengthen understanding of the 8 Key Competences for Lifelong Learning through interactive workshops, non-formal education methods, and practical learning experiences.
2. Increase awareness of sustainability and encourage participants to integrate more sustainable behaviours and responsible choices into their everyday lives.
3. Empower young people to take initiative and develop small-scale sustainability actions, equipping them with the confidence, knowledge, and motivation to create a positive impact in their local communities.
The programme started with icebreakers, team-building activities, and intercultural sessions that helped participants build connections and create a positive learning environment. Participants also explored the Youthpass certificate and reflected on the learning outcomes gained throughout the project.
Through workshops, discussions, simulations, and creative challenges, participants examined environmental, social, and economic aspects of sustainability. They explored topics such as ecological footprints, sustainable lifestyles, and environmental challenges, while developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Intercultural learning was a key element of the exchange, as participants shared sustainable practices and experiences from their countries. A study visit to Târgu Mureș further highlighted the connection between cultural heritage, community identity, and sustainable development.
The project also focused on digital competences and youth participation. Participants researched sustainability-related topics, created digital presentations, explored the EU Youth Goals, and produced podcasts expressing their ideas and visions for the future.
In the final stages of the exchange, participants developed practical initiatives and action plans aimed at creating positive change in their local communities. Through these activities, they strengthened their communication, teamwork, digital, citizenship, and sustainability competences while gaining the confidence to become active contributors to a more sustainable future.
The impact of Future-Ready Youth did not end with the exchange itself. An important part of the project was ensuring that the knowledge, skills, and experiences gained by participants would continue to benefit their local communities.
Following the project, participants were encouraged to share what they had learned about sustainability, active citizenship, and the key competences for lifelong learning through presentations, social media activities, discussions, and community initiatives. By disseminating the project's results, they helped raise awareness of sustainable practices and inspired other young people to become more engaged in shaping a better future.
Through these follow-up activities, participants continued their learning journey while contributing to the wider impact and visibility of the project at local, national, and international levels.
